IBBA Karate has a great program for older children. Our youth classes have been specifically designed to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of elementary and middle school-aged kids. Our curriculum is safe, fun, and always exciting!
The skills and drills the children practice in class will help to channel their energy and aggression in positive ways. Doctors, teachers, pastors, and even therapists have recommended Mountain States International Black Belt Academy's Karate for Kids program. They know that IBBA Karate can have a huge positive influence on children. Your child will learn how to overcome fear and nervousness through fun, yet challenging, training. The program provides kids a safe and supportive environment to release energy and learn mental focus, self-discipline, and goal setting.
Our program teaches practical martial arts, bully protection, and proven self-defense techniques. But more importantly, we teach the skills to succeed in life! Our students learn that physical self-defense is the last resort and rarely necessary. "True self-defense" starts with learning to be confident and knowing how to negotiate and get along with others. At IBBA, our students learn so much more than just kicking and punching. They learn to avoid conflict, set and achieve goals, and many other important skills to succeed in life!
Our system is called "International Kenpo". This art is a great system for kids and adults alike. It is based on a unique and practical blend of three ancient martial art traditions including Kenpo Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Jujitsu/Jiu Jitsu. Our students become skilled in all phases of the martial arts including many of the sporting and performance aspects of the arts, all while learning how to protect themselves from various types of danger. International Kenpo is a very well-rounded system. We have many students who come to us from Tae Kwon Do and other styles to expand their knowledge and learn this practical system. Parents and students love IBBA Karate because everyone is made to feel welcome and valued regardless of their skills or athletic ability. If your child has never done martial arts before or even if they have received a belt elsewhere, come and give us a try! Everyone is welcome!
We attribute this to our high-energy, exciting, fun, yet realistic classes and encouraging instructors. Since Mountain States International Black Belt Academy has become so famous, we are able to bring in some of the best instructors in the world to visit, teach, and train the staff at our schools. Each one of our teachers is hand-picked and put through an on-going rigorous training course, resulting in a highly skilled, professional, and friendly staff.
Bullying has become a huge problem in our world today. To address this, we teach our students effective techniques and strategies to defend themselves if physically or emotionally attacked. The skills we teach are not only physical techniques, but also emotional strategies about how to "find your voice" to face life with courage and determination. Our students learn to have the ability to stand up for themselves and their principles. We teach what it means to be a "person of character" and to never misuse our skills. Children are taught to treat others (including their siblings) with kindness and patience, while holding strong to their values.
At International Black Belt Academy we always strive to have a low student to teacher ratio. Your child will get plenty of personal attention and have the opportunity to learn from some of the top Black Belt Instructors in the world. The IBBA instructional staff is personally trained by international coaches, Professor Robert Austin and Sixth Degree Black Belt, Renshi James Denning. Professor Austin is known for teaching Black Belt instructors around the world "best practices" and advanced teaching methods for improving their programs. At IBBA you will find our entire team to be dedicated, encouraging, always friendly, and ready to serve you.
